Pickup truck hits 2 girls, killing 1 in Lynnwood

A teenage girl was killed late Friday when she and her friend were struck by a pickup truck while they were standing on a sidewalk in Lynnwood.

Snohomish County sheriff’s Capt. Kevin Prentiss said Saturday morning he had no details about the girl who was killed. He said the other pedestrian, a 16-year-old Lynnwood girl, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff’s office, the girls were standing on a sidewalk in the 3300 block of 164th Street Southwest around 11:10 p.m. when a white Ford Ranger pickup traveling east apparently lost control. The truck, driven by a 32-year-old Snohomish man, struck the girls, then rolled over, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver and his passenger, a 26-year-old Mill Creek woman, were also taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Prentiss said.

Prentiss said it’s unclear why the man lost control of the truck. Deputies are investigating. No arrests have been made.
