Peterbilt offers new Driver Information Display

A new Driver Information Display that is standard in select Peterbilt models provides operators with important vehicle performance information, helping operators modify driving behaviors to maximize fuel efficiency, Peterbilt Motors Company announced during its news conference at the 2007 Mid-America Trucking Show here“The new Driver Information Display puts valuable vehicle performance data at the operator’s fingertips,” Scott Pearson, Peterbilt assistant general manager of sales and marketing, said.  “It is integrated with the advanced multiplexed electrical system in our new conventional models to provide a range of information that helps drivers achieve optimal vehicle operation and fuel efficiency.”

The display is located directly in front of the driving position on the dash where it is easy to view.  Users can scroll through menus and select display options through an ergonomically located dial, also on the dash.

Among the data available through the Driver Information Display is fuel economy for a trip or life of the vehicle; optimum engine speed; average speed over a measured distance; engine operating hours; number of idling hours; and truck and engine serial numbers.  Warning signals have also been integrated into the display.

Additionally, according to Pearson, fault codes have been replaced with easy-to-understand text-based readouts for improved diagnostics and reduced downtime.

The Driver Information Display is standard in Peterbilt Models 389, 388, 386, 384, 367 and 365.
